| I have been looking for a good excuse to load Linux on my home box for about a year now and finally got a chance when the blaster worm infected my XP system. A friend reloaded XP for me and also loaded Fedora 2.0 on a separate partition. He also loaded lots of games on both systems for the benefit of my wife and daughter. After hooking up the system and showing everybody the ins and outs of the boot sequence, both were happily exploring the games and features of both systems for the rest of the day. I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly my wife picked up the Linux system since she's not the most adept computer user. In this case being a novice had it's advantages. She showed no fear in navigating the menus and checking things out. I may yet wipe out the XP partition entirely if this reception to Linux continues. |
