Volvo XC90

Volvo XC90The Volvo XC90 Sport is not only sporty in aesthetic terms. The chassis characteristics have been refined to increase genuine driving pleasure. Both the shock absorbers and the anti-roll bars have been made stiffer to offer a high level of stability when cornering. The steering has also been adapted to offer quick steering response. Furthermore, Volvo’s self-levelling system, Nivomat, is standard in both the five and seven seat models. The system has been fine-tuned to offer great stability and driving control.

The 2007 Volvo XC90 comes with either a twin-turbocharged inline 2.9-liter six-cylinder that produces 268 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque managed by a five-speed automanual, or a turbocharged inline 2.5-liter five-cylinder, mated to a four-speed automanual, that produces 208 hp and 236 lb-ft of torque. The new Volvo XC90's maximum tow rating is 5,000 pounds for both engines. XC90 has 4 door unibody construction with turbocharged power and a choice of 5-passenger seating or 7 with an available 3rd-row bench (2007 Volvo XC90)

A 6.5 inches ride height advantage over XC90, and an impressive maximum ground clearance of 9.2 inches (when equipped with 18-inch wheels) allows the new 2007 Volvo XC90 to move to light offroad and stand up to the demands of suburban road conditions. To prevent perhaps the most dangerous mishap common to SUVs, Volvo now includes Roll Stability Control (RSC) that activates the DSTC (Dynamic Stability and Traction Control) to help prevent rollovers. Just in case, the roof of the Volvo XC90 is composed of Boron steel, which Volvo notes is four times stronger than conventional steel. The entry-level 2007 Volvo XC90 2.5T comes with front-wheel or all-wheel drive, a 208-hp 5-cyl engine, and 5-speed automatic transmission. The T6 AWD has a 268-hp 6 cyl and a 4-speed automatic. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and antiskid/traction control are standard.

The interior design is customised with a more sporty character with a sport steering wheel and gear selector of perforated leather plus sports seats with additional lateral cushioning to support the driver, even in faster cornering. The leather in the seats is a combination of two different grades of leather which provide a sporty, exclusive feel. The décor piping in different colour shades also enhances the impression. The instrument dials have metal chronograph watch-style faces with a shimmering blue lustre. The sport carpets with crème-coloured décor piping complete the picture of a sporty interior with an exciting hi-tech feel.

A big part of the interior upgrades also include display and software updates on cars equipped with the multi-function LCD display system, and as with other Volvos, the XC90 uses a thin-format LCD display, which slides vertically out of the dashboard. On the 2007 XC90, new more attractive graphics have been used on the interface menus, and the DVD navigation system has been improved for quicker searches when planning routes.
