| I would have to say the Zaurus series has many other PDA companys rethinking the PDA. The Zaurus has multiple features that just make it stand well above the rest. Then again the Zaurus is not a true PDA but more of a small handheld computer. The 5500 has a Intel Strongarm proc. Now a days this seems under powered but the OS is Linux so it is easily able to adjust for the lower power. The 64 meg of memory is split, half for ram and half for rom. There is a plentiful amount of software out there for free or purchase. If you cant do it on the Zaurus, just wait. Soon it will be out there. The key feature is the built in keyboard. You just slide down the bottom half and there it is. Its not big enough for a hand to fit there but your thumbs work great and after about 2 days of using the keyboard you ask yourself, how did I do this before? It has both SD and Compact flash slots. The SD is not SDIO but it is great for memory and use the CF for your add ons. I have the digital camera, wifi, 56k modem, and ethernet card with mine and use them all the time. I am giving up my 5500 though. That is due to upgrading to the new 6000 and cant wait for it to show up. The 6000 has x scale proc with 128 split meg of memory. If you are looking for a pda that can do more than a palm- not pocketpc- look at the entire zaurus line. There is one that has the options you want and a price you can afford. |
