Saab 9-5 review

2007 Saab 9-5

2007 Saab 9-5The new 2007 Saab 9-5 Sedan is the result of an unconventional approach to car design. It combines performance, driving pleasure and safety in a harmonious entity. There are several equipment levels and a long list of options and accessories. Whatever combination you choose, you will get one of the safest cars money can buy.

The Saab 9-5 2.0t BioPower is not only kinder to the environment, it also produces more power and performance than its gasoline equivalent.

The enjoyment of sporty performance is combined with a very practical solution to the environmental needs of customers because it can run, without adjustments from the driver, on bioethanol – based fuel or gasoline in any proportions.

Bioethanol fuel is produced commercially from agricultural crops, such as corn and sugar cane. Unlike gasoline, its consumption does not raise atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide (CO2), the “greenhouse” gas that contributes to global warming. This is because emissions during driving are balanced by the amount of CO2 that is removed from the atmosphere when crops for conversion are grown. It is currently blended 85% bioethanol/15% gasoline and sold on Sweden as E85 fuel.

The 2007 Saab 9-5 Sedan is a 4-door, 5-passenger luxury sports sedan, available in one trim only, the 2.3T.

Upon introduction, the Saab 9-5 Sedan is equipped with a standard 2.3-liter, I4 , 260-horsepower, turbo engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 30-mpg on the highway. A 5-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard, and a 5-speed automatic transmission is optional.

The Saab 9-5 can seat up to five people. Upright chairlike seating permits comfortable posture, and leather-upholstered seats are standard. A new audio system includes MP3-play capability, XM Satellite Radio and an in-dash six-CD changer. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning and front and rear heated seats are standard.

Saab's Dynamic Workload Manager feature can briefly suppress dashboard warning messages when appropriate, while the Night Panel function can shut off primary instrumentation — aside from the speedometer — at night. Both systems are intended to reduce driver distraction.
