Porsche Cayenne 2008 review

2008 Porsche Cayenne

Porsche Cayenne The Porsche Cayenne high-end SUV is getting the first major facelift since it hit the market, and the automaker will use the upcoming Detroit show to in January to unveil the updated model. The vehicle will launch as a 2008 model and is set to arrive in U.S. dealerships by March of 2007.

The engines were updated as well. Basic 3.2 liter was replaced by a bit more advanced 3.6 liter V6 with direct injection outputting 290 hp against the 247 found in the old one. With new powerplant this German “sporty land boat” can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h (0-60mph) in 8.1 seconds shaving 1 seconds compared to the previous Cayenne.

S version of this sports utility also has received a bigger engine in terms of displacement and now has 4.8 liter V8 instead of 4.5 liter found in 2006 Cayenne. As you have already guessed this increase in displacement also brought some extra usable power and to be more exact it has brought 45 ponies more than it was before. So now the S version has 385 hp and can do 0-100km/h (0-60mph) in 6.6 seconds. Maximum speed of this facelifted Cayenne S is 252 km/h (about 155mph).

The 2008 Porsche Cayenne vehicle Tracking System (VTS) became standard on the Cayenne Turbo and all 911 models. The new Cayenne Turbo will also be fitted with VTS. This is the only system tested and approved by Porsche engineers at the research and development centre in Weissach, Germany. Approved to Thatcham Category 5 standard, the highest in the UK, the system features a discreet pocket-sized card, which should be carried in the car when it is in motion. If the car is moved without the card on board, or should the car sense itself being lifted or towed, the tracking system is instantly alerted and, using the latest GPS technology, is able to track and locate the car. The Porsche VTS is tailored to fit every car in the range. Initial preparation is carried out at the factory with final fitting completed by Porsche Centres. It is available as an option on all other Porsche cars.

New luxury items include a power rear tailgate that even incorporates an owner programmed limiting function to avoid hitting low ceilings as well as a new interior trim package. A black and Chestnut Brown color combination is now available in what Porsche calls, natural leather.

All in all, it appears the new Cayenne is an improvement on already impressive SUV. If you are looking for as much sport as utility in your vehicle, then this may be the SUV for you.
