Opel Antara

Opel AntaraThe Antara intelligent active four-wheel drive system combines the benefits of front-wheel drive - such as tractional stability when accelerating and increased driving dynamics - with those of permanent four-wheel drive. It features an electronically controlled electro-hydraulic differential which ensures optimal torque distribution between the front and rear axles in all situations. The drivetrain is fully integrated in the ABS and ESP systems, enhancing vehicle control and active safety.

The new Antara will be unleashed with a set of three engines and two transmissions. The most expensive model will come with a 3.2-liter V6 petrol engine, which features 224 horsepower and is mated with an automatic six-speed manual gearbox with ActiveSelect function. The next in line will be a 150 hp 2.0-liter turbo-diesel with common-rail system, which can be ordered width either a manual or an automatic five-speed transmission. The cheapest trim will be equipped with 2.4-liter 141 hp four-cylinder gasoline unit with two overhead camshafts and one balance shaft.

All Antara diesel models also feature a diesel particulate filter and electric heater Quickheat as standard. For on-board entertainment, the Antara features a standard CD-Radio CD 30 MP3-compatible stereo with seven loudspeakers, remote controls on the steering wheel and a roof antenna to provide excellent radio reception. The DVD 100 Navi navigation system with large Colour Info Display, 6 x CD changer, mobile phone console with Bluetooth connection and voice control are optionally available.

The Edition variant also features 17-inch alloy wheels with 235/60 R 17 tires, and comfort features such as Electronic Climate Control (ECC), heated front seats and Automatic Lighting Control (ALC) whose sensors automatically activate the headlamps.

The top Antara version, Cosmo, gets standard 18-inch aluminium rims with 235/55 R 18 tires, leather steering wheel and gearshift knob, seats in a fabric/leather combination, on-board computer, cruise control, Park Pilot, windshield in heat-absorbing glass and rain sensor. Other comfort options include exterior mirrors that fold in electrically (optional with Cosmo) and stationary heating (optional).

The fascinating contrast between a luxurious, classy look and solid, muscular details also abounds in the interior of the Opel Antara GTC. Warm tones and the generous use of leather are caught up in a charming interplay with technical materials like carbon fiber (seat back), stainless steel and aluminum (cockpit). Colorwise, the interior is quite clearly split in two: Dark-brown dominates the upper part of the instrument panel and door liners, while the rest is light beige.
