Motorola Q

Motorola QThe Motorola Q is one of the most anticipated Windows Mobile powered smartphones. It’s been a hot topic on mobile and technology blogs since last summer. And for good reason: It’s one of the first smartphones to use Windows Mobile 5.0 and it’s the thinnest to have a QWERTY-style thumb keyboard.

The Motorola Moto Q is a Windows Mobile 5.0 device with a Blackberry-like QWERTY keyboard and a wide 320x240 pixel display for a crisp clear view of the Internet and messages. The units also features expandable memory on mini SD cards, Bluetooth and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

To fulfil your multimedia requirements, this unit certainly has a lot to offer. The Motorola Moto Q can play back MP3s, Windows Media formats and video clips through Windows Media Player. Despite the small size, stereo speakers have been included and, of course, the MiniSD slot is there for extra video clip and MP3 storage.

The Motorola Q measures 116mm x 66mm x 12mm (4.6" x 2.6" x .5") in size. When compared to the Palm Treo 700p we just reviewed, the Q is 3mm longer (if you ignore the 700p's stub antenna), 6mm wider, and about half as thick. When you consider that the Q weighs only 122g (4.3oz) with a miniSD card inserted, you end up with a very pocketable device that weighs 15 to 50g less than the competition. That's something that Motorola can be proud of.
