| The new Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder convertible will reach dealerships in late March as an early 2007 model, after making its debut at the Detroit show. It will boast the same over-the-top styling as the hardtop model and a similar complement of standard and optional equipment. The two-plus-two convertible gets not only a fully automatic fabric top, but also a power-operated tonneau cover, usually found only on far more expensive droptops, for a sleek, smooth appearance once the top is down. The entire top-and-tonneau operation takes only nineteen seconds.
The all-new Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS features a 162-hp 2.4L I4 coupled to either a manual or sportronic automatic transmission. The sportier GT version boasts a 3.8L V6 producing 260 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Standard features across the board include 17-inch alloy wheels, ABS brakes, a rear spoiler, and the 650-watt Rockford Fosgater audio system with a 6-disc MP3-compatible CD changer. The GT upgrades by adding traction control, convenience gauges, an automatic climate control, and a stainless steel exhaust. Mitsubishi offers a host of options, including heated leather seats, 18-inch alloy wheels, and exterior trim enhancements.
Mitsubishi designers in Cypress, California, recognized that many convertible owners expect interior styling to be attractive in its own right - something to enhance pride of ownership when driving top-down. To that end, the 2007 Eclipse Spyder GT's "attainable exotic" design theme continues inside. The wave-form instrument panel houses easy-to-reach controls and features distinctive motorcycle-inspired gauges and ice-blue nighttime illumination.
Standard equipment on both trim levels is generous. Fog lamps, power and heated mirrors, heated front seats, a unique transparent rear spoiler, side airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, keyless entry and a 650-watt, MP3 compatible Rockford Fosgate audio system are some of the desirable standard features. This premium audio system incorporates digital signal processing, a six-disc, in-dash CD changer and nine speakers (including a 20-centimetre sub woofer in the rear seatback)
The 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse is safe, too. With a sophisticated antilock braking system, 4-wheel disc brakes and automatic traction control, the 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS offers sure-footed comfort in any weather conditions. The car also comes with standard dual front air bags, available dual side air bags and Mitsubishi’s patented Refined Impact Safety Evolution chassis. With the available single-button panic feature on our remote keyless entry, the Eclipse doesn’t only help to protect you when you’re on the inside, it’s also got you covered when you’re out.
