Logitech Cordless Click Optical Mouse

The mouse to some is uneeded but for the rest of us X-windows users and Windows users the mouse is almost a necessity. Sadly the mouse has always come with it's bad points. The cord got in the way and limited the mouses freedom to roam. The ball had a tendency to clean the pad it rolled on untill the mouse ball would no longer roll. Then came the monthly ritual of cleaning you never knew was on the table to begin with. 2 solutions have come to solve these problems optical mice and wireless mice. The Logitech click! attempts to incorperate both.

The Logitech click! cordless is the cheaper of the line and can be gotten for about $30 on Amazon. The click plus! is larger and seems to add some buttons. Both models are USB and officially support Mac and Windows. I suggest tossing the cd that comes with it. Trust me nothing good is on their. The click cordless is a relatively small mouse. It has the standard right and left click button a wheel inbetween and third button right below the wheel. this third button is poorly placed for either you must lift and bend your finger quite a bit to reach it or just forget about it.

The most striking thing about the mouse I found as I was taking it out of the box was the oddly placed third button. It seemed like it was stuck on their more as a decoration then as a functional button. It is a good looking mouse btw.

Once plugged in it acts fine although still no use for that damn middle button. The mouse buttons are sensetive and the optical tracking is smooth and responsive. It acts as any mouse should. After a while I did get annoyed by the lack of a thumb button but for $30 bucks I guess it's fine.

My biggest problems with this mouse overall is the battery life. It frankly sucks. If you buy this mouse make sure you have plenty of double A batteries and be sure to never run out. I have to replace nearly every 1.5 weeks which may not seem like often but the time does go by fast.

Pros: Optical, wireless, USB, cheap

Cons: useless 3rd button, simplistic, seemingly short battery life
