| Now a question that strikes us all into argument. What is the best Linux Distribution? well here i am going to compare 2 linux distributions that i have found to be great. redhat 9, and Suse linux 9, i will rate out of ten and give good points as well as bad. RedHat 9 GOOD Excellent support for those who are new to linux Even better to those who are experts Good media support Contains all the packages that u need to have a great expeirence Fast compiling BAD Falls into dependancy hell very often Slow rpm installs Not alot of applications being ported to redhat at this day and age Mp3 plugin isnt availible Alot of plugins dont come with redhat Overall 8/10 I use this distro for alot of work, whether is be gaming or school work, i highly reccomend this to beginners. Suse 9 GOOD Hardly ever fall into dependancy hell Tons of plugins already included Tons of Games Great 3d support Tons of apps for multimedia Very newbie friendly BAD Very sluggish on large installs Poor compiling Alot of times you will find yourself inserting a bunch of discs to install an rpm 5 discs Still has small holes, even as a final product Overall 7/10 This is more of a newbie distro, not really for experts, although it has alot of packages, its just doesnt make the cut for me. Conclusion Redhat 9, is the best, i reccomend this to anyone of any linux skill type -Archlyric |
