| IDE, well you must be wondering that I am probably writing about Integrated Development Enviroment provided with the Software Development tools? But this IDE is generally related to the hardware on the motherboard. Have you ever wondered that your PC has got more than one IDE and a maximum of four hardwares can work on it? You can have three hard-disks or three CD rom drives and one Hard Disk! Any combination. |
| You can have three hard-disks or three CD rom drives and one Hard Disk! Any combination. If you have ever opened your PC's cabinet box you'll find two such hooked like hardware where you can plug the IDE cable and make the devices running. I want to tell everybody that, all of you should try to use both the IDE's that is IDE 1 and IDE 2. Why? The reason is simple. By plugging in the hardware to two different devices you will find the your PC's efficiency will increase and it will give better results. | The IDE's make the hardware Slaves or Masters. If you connect the IDE cable to IDE 1 and from that same cable you connect for example the CDROM, you will have the CD ROM as the Primary Slave and the other device as Master. Moreover there are other things to take into consideration like the Jumpers. The configuration of the jumpers can be found at Manuals of the Hardwares that you usually have. Now what I want to write is that once you have the Hard Disk on IDE 1, then don't use IDE 1 until and unless you have more than two hardwares like 2 HDD and 1 Cdrom or 2 CDrom's and one HDD. Just try to connect the second one to IDE 2. It is preferered to connect the CDROM to the IDE 2. Then you'll find that your PC's is working a bit faster. Note: Some PC's have IDE 0 and IDE 1 instead of IDE 1 and IDE 2. Go to the Computer Hardware store today and buy the IDE cable and "Just try it"!!! |
