Citroën C-Métisse

Citroën C-MétisseThe Citroen C-Métisse Concept combines the features of a high performance sports car together with environmental friendliness - this means a top speed of 250km/h but using only 5.2 liters of diesel per 100km. Classic Citroen design cues are kept - long bonnets and non-existant rear overhang, most Citroens like the C4, Xsara and Xantia look like notchbacks.

C-Métisse is based on the same future-oriented solution as the C4 HDi hybrid demonstration vehicle presented by Citroën at the start of the year apart from one key difference: the electric motors are installed in the rear wheels. This configuration is coherent with vehicle performance and optimises traction. Perfectly suited to the character of C-Métisse, the design reflects Citroën’s expertise in the various hybrid architectures, as well as demonstrating its commitment to cutting fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

The C-Metisse is a very stylish sedan that will turn heads at every corner. It's standout feature is 4 gull-wing doors that allow easy access to a cabin and just plain look cool. What might be more impressive is the technology on the inside. It boasts an economical 208 HP HDi V6 diesel engine, coupled with an acclaimed Diesel Particulate Filter System, and two separate electric motors on the rear wheels, capable of developing a massive 295 lb-ft of additional torque.

Power is put to the front wheels via a 6 speed automatic transmission. Yes you did read that right. With the gas engine powering the front, and the two electric motors powering the rear wheels, the C-Metisse offers a unique way to achieve AWD. The C-Metisse to features a "boost mode" where under heavy acceleration, the electronic motors activate to provide immediate torque. The result is a 0-62MPH of 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 155 MPH and an impressive 50-75MPH time of 4.2 seconds. How does such a large sedan get such numbers with relatively little power.

The C-Metisse features a carbon fiber body and other weight savings to achieve a curb weight of only 3086 lbs. These weight savings don't only benefit performance but economy. Around town the new concept car can run in Zero Emission Vehicle (ZEV) mode and can achieve up to 45 MPG.

The Citroën C-Métisse interior is upholstered in white leather, the space reserved for the three passengers features an uncluttered design that creates an atmosphere of total relaxation. Through their design, the three independent seats suggest comfort and lightness. This impression is reinforced by the airy shapes and hollowed volumes of the cabin, in which the leather trim and aluminium inserts clearly confirm C-Métisse as belonging to the world of exceptional cars.

For truly exceptional passenger comfort, each seat has independent air conditioning controls – stamped into the leather door panels – along with individual roof lighting. C-Métisse makes full use of its generous wheel base (3 m). The space provided for rear passengers is exceptional for this type of vehicle. Knee room, in particular, corresponds to limousine standards.

With its leather trim, the luggage compartment is coordinated with the passenger compartment. In addition to the boot, with its parallelogram opening, the passengers of C‑Métisse have two other compartments behind the wheels to place the line of Citroën luggage designed exclusively for this concept.
