Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione

Alfa Romeo 8C CompetizioneThe car, designed by Alfa Romeo, is directly derived from the 8C Competizione concept car unveiled at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show. Alfa Romeo 8C CompetizioneThe engine performance figures are a maximum power output of 450 bhp at 7000 rpm and a torque of 470 Nm at 4750 rpm, with 80% of torque available from 2000 rpm.

The transmission is a six-speed dual-clutch. The car will ride on 20" wheels and feature a limited-slip differential. Volume is expected at 500 units annually, with production starting early next year.

The engine is connected to a paddle-shifting 6-speed sequential manual gearbox in a transaxle configuration to improve weight distribution. Computerized gear selection may be used in one of five modes: Manual-Normal; Manual-Sport; Automatic-Normal; Automatic-Sport and Ice. Performance figures were not mentioned, but you can bet it’ll be fast. Special attention was devoted, said Alfa Romeo, to the underbelly of the shapely 8C in order to reduce lift at the obnoxiously high speeds it’s sure to attain without much provocation.

The definitive version of the exclusive Alfa 8C Competizione, Gran Turismo car that is to be produced in a limited edition, is ready. The car, designed by Alfa Romeo, is directly derived from the concept car that aroused such admiration at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The 8c Competizione combines this brilliant performance with extraordinary roadholding and the handling of a true thoroughbred. The merit goes to the dual wishbone suspension at front and rear, which ensures extremely enjoyable handling, combining the control you would expect of front-wheel drive with an exceptionally sporty drive and pinpoint response, which are particularly important on mixed routes. We must underline that Alfa Romeo chose rear-wheel drive on the 8c Competizione to support the exuberant engine and to deliver truly unbeatable emotions.
